Man who drugged and raped his sister gets ONE YEAR in jail
Nolan Bruder, a 20-year-old man who lives in California, drugged and raped his 16-year-old sister. Judge William Follett sentenced him to three years of probation and one year in prison. Nolan will be walking the streets again in a year, and the Del Norte District Attorney's Office, “could not disagree" with it more.

Dale P. Trigg, the Del Norte District Attorney, wanted a much heavier sentence. Nolan admitted to repeatedly attempting to have sexual intercourse with his sister, but he was denied by his sister. He then gave her enough 'dabs,' until she no longer recognized him. She was nearly unconscious when he raped her.
Judge Follett states that the 'stigma' of this sentencing as well as the requirement for him to register as a sex offender will be sufficient punishment for his actions.
Judge William Follett
With a weak sentencing such as this, it gives off the message that drugging and raping a family member can be done with almost no consequences. In order to end sexual assault and abuse, the punishment will have to fit the crime. Think of the 16-year-old girl who will have to live with the fact that she was raped by her brother. Her brother will spend a year in prison while she spends a lifetime trying to heal.

We believe that this judge should be recalled, and that a petition should be filed. If any readers live in Del Norte County, you can file a petition by using this pdf document:
